Fixing Annoying Screen Freezes

by admin on July 24, 2010

I bet that all computer users and owners have already experienced screen freezes. Although in most cases freezes seem to be harmless, it is definitely annoying because you cannot do anything with your computer.

Why does this happen? The best possible answer is because of your Random Access Memory (RAM). For those who do not know what the function of RAM is, it is the capacity of your computer to multitask or to process multiple applications at one certain point in time. When the RAM overloads itself by having too many processes that the hardware can handle, the screen freezes because it cannot process data at its optimal speed.

Fixing the screen freeze is quite easy. Since your RAM is overloaded, basically, you have to unload your RAM. When the screen freezes, the best choice is to wait until the screen becomes active again. This is to not create unnecessary processes that will further slow your RAM down. If you can’t seem to wait or have waited long enough, press the start button (the button between your Ctrl and Alt in the keyboard OR you can click it with the mouse if the cursor still functions). The RAM would most likely set some space available for it as it would stop temporarily some background functions and processes to unfreeze the computer screen. If the screen is still frozen, then there is a chance that your computer has a virus that was able to penetrate through your antivirus. The possible solution for this will either be by rebooting your computer and getting an antivirus that could kill the culprit, or by formatting your PC to assure that it has been cleaned from any virus or harmful program.

When the computer screen encounters a freeze, don’t fret. Try the solutions above and fix the problem yourself.
