Key loggers, in its most basic sense, is a software that logs or stores data of all details that are typed through your keyboard. Key loggers enable the computer owner to monitor the sites visited by the people who has used the PC. Also, passwords are detected by the key logger and stored to its database. The software also produces screenshots of the web sites that the users have visited. All of these data are then sent via e-mail to the person who is registered in the software.
For many people, the use of key loggers seems to be very intruding. Some view key loggers as intruders of privacy that no one can ever use the computer without giving data to the person who ‘supervises’ all the computer’s activity.
However, it is not always bad. Although it really seems unethical to encroach someone’s privacy, it depends on the purpose of the action that justifies it. Key loggers are extremely useful especially in keeping one’s family together. Key loggers detect web sites and passwords, which can be used to detect if one’s partner is cheating or not. It can also protect your children as you can detect earlier if your children are accessing sites with contents not suitable for their age group.
Like most useful software, key loggers come in with a price. However, it will not hurt someone, but would rather benefit someone, if one takes the initiative to look through the internet and shop around for other viable options.
Key loggers are very useful, but its use should be limited to personal use only. Putting this type of software in public computers encroach other people’s privacy. However, if you want to keep your family bonded together tightly, getting a good key logger program will be one beneficial choice to make.
